WELLINGTON BR. # 17, APRIL 18, 2020 AT 1 PM

CRIBBAGE – RULES OF PLAY

  1. All Members of the Royal Canadian Legion and/or Ladies Auxiliary Members are eligible to participate in the playoffs for the Inter-Provincial and National competitions.
  2. All teams must qualify at District level and team members’ names and Registration Fee must be sent directly to New Brunswick Provincial Command by closing date indicated on the poster.
    1. Each district must supply a scorekeeper to keep district scores. This will leave the master scorekeeper free for the master scorecard.
    2. The National Playoff Tournament is to be played the first Saturday in March.
    3. For National level, any district may enter a maximum of 12 teams (2 person teams) each two teams must be from the same Branch.
    4. National level will play 10 games – total lowest score of two teams per district will qualify.  Second place winners will be alternate. ** Where more than two teams per branch are registered in any one district, the scores will be tabulated in groups of two teams.  **PLEASE NOTE: District Chairpersons are to insure that their team’s names are forwarded to the Provincial Chairperson in the order that they will be playing.
    5. The overall 1st Place Trophy will be on a District’s 2 lowest teams, and the winners are to be from the same Branch.
    6. The Provincial Qualifying Tournament is to be held the first Saturday in April unless it falls on a long weekend, i.e. Easter.
    7. For Provincial level, any district may enter a maximum of 15 teams or a minimum of 5 teams. (These are 2-person teams)
    8. They will play 10 games ‑ total lowest points per district (5 teams of two).
    9. The overall 1st Place Trophy for Provincial level will be on a District Team of 10 people or 5 teams of two.
    10. The first and second place teams in the Provincial will attend the Inter‑Provincial Play.
    11. High hand and high team and district, if tied, will play 1 game to decide the winner.
    12. The Jack counts anywhere on the board.
    13. Cards MUST be cut each time between the shuffle of the cards and before the dealing out the cards. Do not cut the deck card until all of the Kitty Cards have been placed on the table. When cutting cards-keep the cards flat. Do not look at or show the bottom cards of the cut.
    14. One person does the pegging, counting starting from the left of the dealer, one at a time, all placing their hand on the table so that opponents may see their hand.
    15. Your partner may help you count your hand if you are not sure.
    16. If points are missed, you may tell them or keep quiet. You cannot take their points. If anyone moves the opposition’s pegs. The pegs will stay and the defaulty hands rule.
    17. If anyone is caught cheating the district for which he or she is playing will be disqualified.
    18. Mark high hand of player on back of scorecard and get opposing team to sign, and report it to the master score card. 24 hands must be counted on the board to count. 28 or 29 hands dealt will count regardless of number of points on the board left to peg. All 28 & 29 hands must be confirmed by the Tournament Chair. (Both type of hands must be in your hand & not in your crib)
    19. Winning team sits at same table until they lose. Loser must move. (Except if physically handicapped – as directed by chairperson).
    20. You cannot play your own district teams.
    21. If possible, do not play the same team twice.
    22. Report your score with the master score card after every game.
      1. After each game – decks of cards move as directed by the Chairperson.
